Fogging in Faridabad: what to know

Faridabad's mosquito season runs late. In 2024 the district had 136 confirmed dengue cases and 29 malaria cases by mid-November, nearly three times the count of two months earlier, and officials said many more went unrecorded because private hospitals don't send in reports. The same report quoted a Sector 9 resident saying no fogging had been done in his area.

Civic teams' fogging and larvae checks cover public areas; homes, lawns and factory yards are usually the owner's to arrange. Terraces, society parks and warehouse floors usually fall to the RWA or unit, and that's where adult mosquitoes spend the day: in hedges, shaded drains and behind stacked goods.

We fog in the early evening, when mosquitoes are moving and the air is calm, and move the slot if rain or wind would carry the fog away. Residents or workers get notice, pets and birds go indoors, and anyone with asthma stays away from the side being fogged.

A thermal fogger is never run inside a closed room or hall: the fog is dense and the machine runs hot.

After heavy rain: drain first, then fog

Faridabad's drains clear slowly. After a two-day spell in August 2024, civic sources said almost half of the city's roughly 800-km sewer and drain network was choked or damaged, and Sectors 7 to 12 stayed waterlogged for hours.

Standing water becomes a breeding pool, which is why the advice is to empty containers every week. After a heavy spell: drain your terrace, parking and pot trays; fog the lawn, hedges and drains on the first calm, dry evening; book mosquito control for pools you can't drain; repeat the fog every one to two weeks until the season ends.

Thermal or ULV for our warehouse?

Doesn't the municipal corporation fog?
The civic and health teams work on public areas and larvae checks, and they're stretched: in July 2024 the district malaria control department had 119 staff against 173 sanctioned posts. Private lawns, society grounds and factory yards are usually yours to arrange.
Does fogging stop dengue?
Not on its own. It kills the adult mosquitoes it reaches, not eggs and larvae in standing water. Empty containers every week and book mosquito control for breeding spots.
