Our process

  1. 01

    Booking

You book the 2-visit package and get a prep checklist ahead of the first visit.

  2. 02

    Preparation

Wash bed linen, pillow covers and curtains in hot water, and clear items stored under the bed.

  3. 03

First visit — inspection and treatment

The technician inspects mattress seams, bed frame joints and nearby furniture, then treats the identified spots.

  4. 04

    Gap period

A gap of roughly two weeks is left between visits to allow eggs from the first visit to hatch before the second treatment.

  5. 05

    Second visit

The same areas are re-treated to target bed bugs that hatched after the first visit, breaking the life cycle.

  6. 06

    Job card and warranty

Once both visits are done and prep steps were followed, the warranty is written on your job card.

Before we arrive

  • Wash all bed linen, pillow covers, blankets and curtains in hot water before each visit
  • Clear boxes, shoes or clothes stored under the bed so the area is accessible
  • Vacuum the mattress and bed frame if possible before the technician arrives
  • Avoid moving infested furniture to other rooms, as this can spread bed bugs further

Aftercare

  • Keep the treated bed and furniture undisturbed for the time the technician specifies
  • Continue washing linen in hot water weekly until the second visit is completed
  • Avoid bringing secondhand furniture or mattresses into the home during the treatment period
  • Attend the second visit as scheduled — skipping it affects the warranty

Safety & chemicals

Treatment is applied to mattress seams, bed frame joints and nearby skirting rather than across the whole room, and you are asked to wash linen separately beforehand so the treated surfaces are not immediately covered again. CONFIRM re-entry time for the bedroom after each bed bug visit. The chemical used is shared with you so you have a record for the household.

Warranty

Warranty of up to 6 months* applies when both visits are completed as scheduled and the preparation steps — washing linen in hot water and clearing under the bed — are followed. It does not apply if only one visit is done, if preparation was skipped, or if bed bugs are reintroduced from outside the home.

Why bed bug treatment is different from other pest treatments

Bed bugs hide inside mattress seams, bed frame joints and skirting near the bed, and their eggs can survive a single treatment that kills adult bugs. Because the eggs hatch over roughly a two-week window, a one-visit treatment often leaves behind a new generation that becomes active again a few weeks later, which is why this service is structured as two visits rather than one.

The gap between the two visits is intentional — it gives enough time for eggs present at the first visit to hatch, so the second visit can treat those newly emerged bed bugs before they lay eggs of their own. Completing both visits as scheduled is central to how the treatment is designed to work.

What preparation matters and why

Washing bed linen, pillow covers and curtains in hot water before each visit removes bed bugs and eggs that are on fabric rather than in the mattress structure itself, which complements the chemical treatment applied to seams and frame joints. Clearing items stored under the bed also matters, since boxes and clothes under the bed are common hiding spots that can otherwise be missed during treatment.

This preparation is also tied to the warranty. The written warranty of up to 6 months* applies specifically when both visits are completed and these preparation steps are followed, because skipping prep or missing the second visit leaves gaps that allow the infestation to continue.

What happens during each visit

The first visit starts with an inspection of the mattress, bed frame, headboard and any nearby furniture showing signs of activity, followed by treatment focused on seams, joints and skirting near the bed. If bed bugs have spread to a sofa or cupboard in the same room, those are treated too.

The second visit, roughly two weeks later, repeats the inspection and treatment of the same spots to catch bed bugs that have hatched since the first visit. This is the step that is easy to skip once the itching stops, but it is the one that determines whether the problem is fully resolved or returns within a month or two.

Reducing the chance of bed bugs coming back

Bed bugs are commonly brought into a home through travel — hotel stays, trains, or visiting a place that already has an infestation — or through secondhand furniture and mattresses. Being cautious about inspecting secondhand furniture before bringing it home, and checking luggage after travel, reduces the chance of a fresh infestation starting even after a successful treatment.

If itching or bite marks return well after the two visits and the warranty period, it is worth considering whether a new source has been introduced rather than assuming the original treatment failed. Message us either way, and we can advise on whether a fresh booking is needed.

Bed Bug Control: your questions

Why does bed bug treatment need 2 visits?
Bed bug eggs are resistant to many treatments and hatch over roughly two weeks. The second visit targets bugs that hatch after the first treatment, which is necessary to break the life cycle fully.
Can I skip the second visit if I don't see bed bugs anymore?
We recommend completing both visits as scheduled. Skipping the second visit means newly hatched bed bugs are not treated, and it also affects the warranty.
Do I need to throw away my mattress?
Not usually. Treatment targets the mattress seams and bed frame rather than requiring replacement, though very heavily infested mattresses may need extra attention or replacement depending on their condition.
How do I wash linen for bed bug prep?
Wash sheets, pillow covers, blankets and curtains in hot water and dry them on a high heat setting if possible, as this helps kill bed bugs and eggs on fabric.
Can bed bugs come back after the warranty period?
Bed bugs can be reintroduced through travel, hotel stays or secondhand furniture. The warranty covers re-treatment within its period if the original infestation returns, not infestations freshly brought in from outside.
Will the treatment affect other furniture in the room?
The technician checks nearby furniture such as sofas or cupboards and treats them if activity has spread there, in addition to the bed itself.
How soon can I sleep in the bed after treatment?
. The technician will tell you when it is safe to use the bed again after each visit.
