Pest control and cleaning in Sector 49

Many Sector 49 homes have been filling their sumps from tankers for months or years, and water from many sources leaves more silt in the tank each time. Water in Sector 49: what has been reported

Sainik Colony, August 2026. Residents of the J and K blocks of Sainik Colony told the Haryana Human Rights Commission they had been without regular potable water for 16 days. The tube well serving the locality wasn't working, the Ranney well line had supplied water only once or twice in the previous month, and tankers fell far short of the area's estimated daily need of nearly five lakh litres. The commission combined 14 complaints in an order dated 7 August 2026 and asked the MCF Commissioner and the FMDA's chief executive to report on the tube well, the booster station, the Ranney well supply and the tankers.

Kalindi Hill, September 2026. Residents of Achievers Society, a Kalindi Hill society developed in 2004–05 with nearly 500 families, told the commission they had lived for more than 20 years without a regular public water network. They first relied on borewells inside the society plus private tankers; the borewells have since dried up, so they now depend on bought water and raised concerns about its quality. The commission ordered free government tankers as interim relief and sought reports from the MCF and FMDA.

Earlier. In 2024, Sainik Colony was among the densely populated Faridabad colonies a former corporator described as facing shortages every summer and depending on tankers.

These are residents' complaints and the commission's orders, reported by The Tribune and UNI. The fix for supply lies with the MCF and FMDA. What a household can do is keep the tanks it fills as clean as possible, which is what the next section covers.

Living on tanker water: looking after the tanks

Tanker water comes from different borewells on different days, and when supply stops and starts, fine silt settles on the floor of the sump with each fill. Over a few months it becomes a layer of sludge that gets stirred up every time the pump starts.

SituationHow often to cleanWhy
Sump and roof tanks filled mostly by tankersEvery three to four monthsSilt from mixed sources settles faster
Piped supply back to normal for a seasonAbout every six monthsLess sediment between cleans
Tank left nearly empty for days, then refilledCheck the floor after refillingSludge gets drawn into the pump

On a sump, two technicians drain it, scrape and remove the sludge, scrub the walls, rinse, disinfect and refill, and send before and after photos on WhatsApp. Sump prices including GST: ₹1,199 (up to 1,500 L), ₹1,499 (up to 3,000 L), ₹1,999 (up to 5,000 L), ₹2,799 (up to 10,000 L); larger tanks are quoted. 365-plan members get ₹149 off each extra tank on the same visit.

What cleaning can't do: it doesn't make up a shortage, change the hardness or TDS of the water a tanker delivers, or test whether that water is fit to drink. For drinking water, keep using your purifier or a tested source.

Drums, buckets and mosquitoes

When water arrives irregularly, every house keeps extra: drums on the terrace, buckets in the bathroom, a tub under the tap. Any of them left uncovered for a week can breed mosquitoes, including the Aedes kind that spreads dengue.

  • Lids on every drum, tight enough that a mosquito can't get in.
  • Empty, scrub and refill open containers at least once a week.
  • Look for larvae, small wriggling threads near the surface, before you top up.
  • Keep the sump lid sealed and the vent pipe meshed.

If you're already seeing mosquitoes indoors, a home treatment covers the breeding and resting spots (2BHK ₹1,599 including GST). We don't spray into stored drinking water.

Services in Sector 49

Sector 49: your questions

Will cleaning the tank make our tanker water safe to drink?
No. Cleaning removes sludge and growth from the tank and disinfects it, but it can't change the water a tanker brings. For drinking, use a purifier or tested water.
How often should we clean the sump while we're on tankers?
Every three to four months. Once regular piped supply returns, about every six months is enough.
Do you cover the J and K blocks of Sainik Colony and Kalindi Hill?
Yes. We cover all of Sector 49 on PIN 121001, Sainik Colony and Kalindi Hill included.
Our sump is almost empty most days. Can you still clean it?
Yes, and a nearly empty sump is easier to drain. Tell us when your next tanker comes, so we can clean just before it and you refill a clean tank.
Can our society book its underground tank?
Yes, through the RWA or facility team. We quote by capacity after seeing the tank, and send photos of every stage.
Tanker ka paani aata hai, sump kitni baar saaf karwayein?
Har teen se chaar mahine mein. Tanker aane se pehle cleaning rakh lijiye taaki saaf tank mein paani bhare. WhatsApp: 97111 11086.
