Example, a low-rise society of six blocks: each block with two 2,000-litre overhead tanks, and one shared 25,000-litre UGT: 12 × ₹999 + ₹4,499 = ₹16,487 including GST.

High-rise towers usually have reservoirs above 30,000 litres and larger tanks on the terrace, so they're quoted after the survey. Source: AHC price book, 6 Oct 2026.

How it works

  1. Free survey with your maintenance team: every tank, its size, access and water sources (GMDA, tubewell, tanker).
  2. One fixed quote including GST, tank by tank, for the committee.
  3. A schedule around GMDA supply times, one UGT compartment or a few towers at a time, with a resident notice a day before.

Society tanks in Gurugram: what to know

A group housing society is the last link in GMDA's chain: treated canal water from the Basai and Chandu Budhera plants runs through GMDA's master lines into the society's own UGT, and the society pumps it up to the tanks on every tower. Supply hasn't kept pace with the city. The two plants treat about 670 MLD, against a 2021 TERI projection of 874.3 MLD of demand by 2025. In tail-end sectors the gap is wide: Newslaundry reports Sector 55 receiving about 4 lakh litres from GMDA against a demand of about 11.5 lakh litres per supply cycle.

Societies fill the gap themselves, with tubewells run for long hours (some have failed as groundwater fell) and tankers. Along Dwarka Expressway, residents' groups said in 2024 that more than 200 societies were at the mercy of a tanker mafia even after GMDA extended its pipelines there; many had relied on tankers for about a decade, and in the case reported, a society paid about ₹5,000 for a 5,000-litre tanker. All of it lands in the same UGT, each source leaving its own silt, scale or mud.

That's why a Gurugram society on GMDA water alone should clean its tanks every 4 to 6 months, and one that also uses tubewell or tanker water every 3 to 4 months. When residents ask, a dated photo of each tank answers better than a line in the minutes.

What GMDA said after Westend Heights

In May 2022, about 100 residents of Westend Heights, a society in DLF Phase 5, reported diarrhoea, and the health department found the water unfit to drink. GMDA said the water inside the society had higher TDS than the water it supplied, which suggested mixing with another source. It said contamination could happen in a society's underground or overhead tanks, through mixing with borewell water, or from a lack of disinfection, and it directed RWAs, developers and local authorities to disinfect stored water before supplying it to homes. The cause wasn't confirmed in the reports.

For a committee, that means knowing which sources feed each tank, cleaning on a schedule that suits the mix, ending each clean with disinfection and a rinse before refilling, and keeping a dated record. We clean and disinfect; water testing is for an accredited lab.

The fire-fighting reserve is often a separate UGT compartment. We clean the domestic water compartments; ask at the survey about the fire reserve. Fire tanks and tanks holding STP-treated water for flushing are quoted after the survey.

The record your committee keeps

  • Before-and-after photos of every tank, labelled by tower, compartment and date
  • The disinfectant used, and confirmation that each tank was rinsed before refilling
  • Problems we saw, such as a broken manhole cover, a vent without mesh or seepage into a UGT
  • The next due date for each tank, so the schedule survives a change of committee
  • One GST invoice for the RWA or the maintenance agency

The record comes on WhatsApp after every job, and in your committee's own format on request.
