Water in South City 2

South City 2 has been on Gurugram's shortage lists before: in a 2018 report on the DLF City and South City colonies, and again in May 2023, when The Tribune named it among colonies reporting supply problems. It takes its supply through the booster station that serves this part of Sohna Road, and a 2020 CEPT University student study listed water supply and stormwater drainage among the colony's problems.

How storage works here, and how often to clean it:

Houses and builder floors: an underground sump fills from the main and is pumped up to roof tanks. Clean both twice a year on GMDA water alone, and every 3 to 4 months if a tanker or borewell tops up the sump.
Walk-up blocks: several roof tanks share one terrace. Book them together: each tank up to 1,000 L is ₹699, and 365-plan members get ₹149 off each extra tank in the same visit.
After a drain backup: if dirty water could have reached the sump lid or an inspection chamber beside it, have the sump cleaned before the water is used again.

When the master drain backs up

Writing in ThePrint in September 2026, a columnist reported that the GMDA master drain had "backed up into South City II once again" after rain. The nearest big junction, Subhash Chowk, is one of the city's known flood points too. Backed-up drains matter for home care in three ways:

Walk-up blocks: one roof, many households

A walk-up block has no service lift, no facility desk and often no single person in charge of the terrace. That changes how a booking works.

Cockroaches: they move up and down the stairwell and drain stack. If three or four flats on the same staircase book the same day, we treat each kitchen and bathroom plus the stairwell drains in one visit, with a separate bill for each flat.
Roof tanks: agree a date with your neighbours so every tank on the terrace is cleaned at once and nobody refills a dirty one from a shared line.
Moving in or out: with no lift, a flat is easiest to clean when it's empty. An empty 2BHK deep clean is ₹4,199; a bed bug treatment for a 2BHK is ₹2,199 over two visits, with a warranty of up to 6 months*.

We live in a walk-up block. Can the whole staircase be treated together?

Yes. Each flat books and pays separately, and we do the stairwell drains in the same visit.

The drain backed up near our house. Is our sump safe to use?

If dirty water could have reached the lid or the chamber beside it, don't use it until it's been cleaned. A sump up to 1,500 L costs ₹1,199.

Will you fog the colony park?

For common parks we need the go-ahead from whoever manages them. Ask them to book through our fogging page, or we can quote them directly.
