If your floor was rebuilt in the last few years, the new wardrobes and door frames are worth a termite check in the first dry season, because the soil under an old plot doesn't change when the building does.

Water in South City 1

South City 1 has shown up on Gurugram's water-shortage lists more than once: in a 2018 report on DLF City, South City and Nirvana City, and again in May 2023, when The Tribune named it among colonies reporting supply problems. In March 2023 it was also on the list for a 30-hour shutdown while the Sector 16 pumping-station main was shut.

After a shutdown or a tanker refill, the first water through the pipes, and any tanker water, carries more silt into the sump. Clean the sump and roof tank once supply settles, not before.
On mixed water (GMDA supply plus tankers or a borewell), plan on a roof-tank clean every 3 to 4 months and a sump clean at least twice a year.
On a shared sump, agree the date with the other floors, because the whole building has to be off the tank for a few hours.

An older colony: who looks after what

In 2018, MCG's plan to take over South City 1 and 2 had "no final date agreed", and Unitech was among the developers who said they couldn't fund the repairs needed before a handover. Ask your RWA who maintains the colony's shared services today before you assume a fix will come from outside.

What stays with the owner either way:

Inside the plot boundary: the sump, the roof tank, the inspection chambers and the floor traps. Ageing chambers and dry traps are the usual way cockroaches come up into a ground-floor kitchen.
The wood: door frames and fitted wardrobes in an older house have had years of contact with the soil and walls. A termite inspection before you renovate costs less than replacing a frame later.
The lawn or front strip: standing water in pots and planters after rain is a mosquito source no civic body will clear for you.

One plot, four households

A rebuilt South City 1 plot can hold four families who share a stair, a terrace and drains, but book their home care separately. Pests don't respect that split. Cockroaches treated on the first floor walk down to the ground floor through the same drain stack, and bed bugs travel in on a new tenant's furniture.

Pest control works best building-wide. If two or more floors book the same day, we treat the stairwell, the stilt drains and each kitchen in one visit, and every floor gets its own invoice.

Changeovers are the time to act. When a floor is empty between tenants, a deep clean and a bed bug check take less time than they will once furniture is back in.
