UNDERGROUND TANK CLEANING · SUMP CLEANING · GHAZIABAD
Underground water tank (sump) cleaning in Ghaziabad.
In a Kavi Nagar kothi or a Raj Nagar builder floor, municipal water drops into the sump before the motor lifts it to the roof, and anything the pipe carries settles on that floor. We pump the sump dry, dig the silt out by hand, scrub and disinfect the walls, and WhatsApp you pictures of the floor. There are always two of us.

How big is yours? Multiply the inside length, width and depth in feet, then multiply by 28.3. A kothi sump of 9 × 5 × 5 ft comes to 225 cubic feet, about 6,370 litres, which falls in the ₹2,799 band.
The whole house in one trip: that sump plus two 1,000-litre roof tanks is ₹2,799 + ₹699 + ₹699 = ₹4,197 including GST, or ₹2,799 + (₹699 − ₹149) + (₹699 − ₹149) = ₹3,899 for a 365-plan member. Source: AHC price book, 6 Oct 2026.
Why a Ghaziabad house sump gets dirty
Ghaziabad's piped water comes from the municipal corporation's Jalkal department, mostly groundwater from its tubewells with some treated Ganga water from UP Jal Nigam plants blended in. It arrives at set hours, too weak to reach a roof, so it fills the sump and a motor lifts it. Supply is patchy too: in April 2026, tubewell and motor breakdowns were cutting the municipal water in parts of the city, and in August residents of Pratap Vihar's D Block complained of worms and a foul smell in their taps, which the Jalkal general manager ordered investigated. Whatever comes down the pipe lands in the sump first.
Plenty of older houses in Kavi Nagar, Raj Nagar, Shastri Nagar and Patel Nagar also run a household borewell into the same sump, bringing fine sand and white scale. The sump, the lowest point in the system, keeps that sediment on its floor until a low level lets the motor pull it up to the roof.
A sump on municipal water alone wants cleaning every six months; one that also takes borewell water, every three to six; and any sump at all, right after floodwater has stood over its cover. Have the roof tanks done on the same day, after the sump, so their first refill doesn't carry the old silt up.

Where the sump sits, and what to sort out before we come
| Location | Typical in | Please arrange |
|---|---|---|
| Front setback or under the gate ramp | Kavi Nagar and Raj Nagar kothis | Car and planters moved off the cover; gate left open for the hoses |
| Below the stilt parking, one sump for all floors | Builder floors in Shalimar Garden, Rajendra Nagar, Shastri Nagar | Cars shifted; every floor warned that the shared motor is off for the morning |
| Beside a borewell chamber | Older homes in Nehru Nagar, Patel Nagar, Govindpuram | Borewell pump and supply motor both off until we're done |
| Cover tiled, cemented or painted shut | Houses renovated over the years | A heads-up before the visit; lifting it can crack tiles, and re-laying them needs a mason |

Let us know what time the municipal supply reaches your lane. We empty the sump after that day's water, and it fills again at the next supply.
After a waterlogged lane: what to do with the sump
In the 2025 monsoon, rain left water standing in Shastri Nagar, Raj Nagar, Kavi Nagar, Nehru Nagar, Rajendra Nagar and other colonies. In July 2026 Shastri Nagar's roads were under water again, and in August debris-choked drains in Govindpuram made the flooding worse. The corporation has tendered pipelines for 11 permanent waterlogging spots; until they're built, a ground-level sump cover is the first thing street water finds.
If dirty water has sat over the cover, assume it got in. Keep that water away from drinking and cooking, pump the sump out, wait for the lane to dry, and book a clean. While it's open we photograph the cover frame and seal, because a gap there lets the next flood in; closing it is masonry work.

Covers, and why two of us come
A cover that doesn't sit tight lets in more than rain. In 2022, people in a Raj Nagar Extension society found a dead snake and a dead frog in a ground-floor water tank and said the builder's maintenance team hadn't locked the tank lids. Keep a setback sump's cover heavy and shut, and tell us if it rocks.
A sump is also a confined space with stale air, and many confined-space deaths are would-be rescuers. So the sump is aired first, one technician works inside, and the other never leaves the opening. Then come the 9 steps, from draining and shovelling out silt to disinfecting, rinsing and photos. The full process and our safety rules: Underground tank cleaning →
