Water in Kaushambi

Kaushambi is on the Trans-Hindon supply: municipal tubewell water topped up with treated Ganga water. Both of its recent water problems were about water failing to reach the flat. In October 2024 a broken pipeline left parts of Kaushambi without supply during the annual Ganga canal shutdown. In October 2025, during the same shutdown, a Kaushambi resident said water wasn't reaching the upper floors of societies.

Inside a tower, water is stored twice: in the underground reservoir, then in the tanks on the roof that feed the flats by gravity. Both should be cleaned every six months, the interval the district health department sets for society overhead tanks.

What a tank clean can and can't do: it removes the silt, slime and rust flakes that settle in a reservoir or roof tank, especially after a pipeline repair. It doesn't raise pressure, fix a municipal line or change what the main delivers.

Upper floors, pumps and the tower tank

When the main runs weak, the reservoir under a tower fills slowly, the pumps lift what they can, and the top floors notice first. Three things follow for residents of Kaushambi's towers:

The roof tank runs near empty for days, so whatever has settled on its floor reaches the taps. Ask your AOA when the roof tanks were last cleaned, and push for a clean once supply settles.
Tankers may top up the reservoir during a long cut, which brings water from a different source into the same storage. Another reason to clean after the cut, not during it.
Your own flat tank, if you have one, is yours to book. A small loft or bathroom tank of up to 1,000 litres costs ₹699 to clean, including GST.

On the Anand Vihar border: offices, hotels and the bus terminal

Kaushambi's other half is commercial. The Kaushambi metro station on the Blue Line sits between Anand Vihar and Vaishali, the UPSRTC bus terminal is inside the locality, and Anand Vihar's ISBT, railway terminal and Namo Bharat station are just across the border.
