Dengue and malaria season in Vasundhara

On 7 October 2025 the district health department published its "highly sensitive" lists. Vasundhara was on the dengue list and on the malaria list. On 2 November 2025 it was again among the localities getting door-to-door surveillance and daily fogging.

The two diseases come from different mosquitoes, but both breed in standing water close to homes. In Vasundhara that means:

Inside the flat or house: cooler tanks, plant saucers, fridge drip trays, unused buckets and the water left in a washing machine's tray.
On the roof: an overhead tank with a cracked or loose lid, and water pooled on the roof after rain.
Around the society or plot: blocked drains, construction pits and basement sumps with inspection covers left open.

Vasundhara homes: what we see

Vasundhara is a UP Awas Vikas Parishad (Housing Board) scheme, which sets it apart from the GDA-planned areas around it. It lends its name to the municipal zone that covers most of Trans-Hindon Ghaziabad, and its homes are a mix of Housing Board flats, group housing societies and plotted houses across numbered sectors.

Water in Vasundhara

Like the rest of Trans-Hindon, Vasundhara is supplied by the municipal corporation's Jalkal department with tubewell water topped up with Ganga water. When the Ganga canal shut in October 2024, Sectors 9 and 10 were on the affected list, and Sector 10 lost supply to a broken pipeline as well. In October 2026 a local report said several existing reservoirs in Vasundhara and Vaishali are damaged.

Most homes store water on the roof; societies add an underground reservoir, and many plotted houses have a sump. After a long cut or a pipeline repair, tanks can refill with silt and rust flakes from the line, so clean them once normal supply returns. In the mosquito months, a roof tank's lid matters as much as the clean: a lid that doesn't seal lets mosquitoes reach the water.

Rain, digging and deep basements

After the rain of 30 and 31 July 2025, Vasundhara was named twice in one report: among the colonies fully waterlogged, and among the areas still struggling with standing water. In July 2026 a road caved in at Sector 13 beside an under-construction basement nearly 20 feet deep.

For homes nearby, that brings three jobs. Cement and soil dust settle on everything while the digging goes on, so book the deep clean after the heavy work ends, not during it. Water that stands on roads and plots for days is mosquito breeding ground, which is when home mosquito control earns its price. And if a sump or basement tank took in rainwater through its cover, drain and clean it before the water is used again.
