Quick answer
AHC cleans underground sumps and UG tanks of up to 30,000 litres across Delhi NCR, from ₹1,199 including GST for up to 1,500 litres to ₹4,499 for 20,001 to 30,000 litres; 365-plan members get ₹149 off each extra tank in the same visit. Every sump is cleaned by two technicians, one inside and one at the opening, because a sump is a confined space, and we allow at least three hours a sump. The team ventilates the sump, drains it, shovels out the sludge, pressure-washes and scrubs the walls and floor, vacuums out the dirt, disinfects and rinses, then sends you before-and-after photos.Sump cleaning prices

Your sump's size: measure the inside length, width and depth in feet, multiply them, then multiply by 28.3. A sump 8 × 6 × 5 ft is 240 cubic feet, about 6,800 litres (₹2,799). Or send a photo with a tape measure across the opening.
Why we always send two technicians
A sump is a confined space: one small opening, little air movement, and water or sludge at the bottom. The air inside can be short of oxygen, and fumes from a disinfectant can build up. Most deaths in confined spaces happen in seconds, and many of them are people going in to help: the US National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health found that about 60% of confined-space deaths were would-be rescuers.
So every AHC sump clean follows the same rules:
- Two technicians, always. One works inside; one stays at the opening the whole time, watching and in voice contact.
- Ventilate first. The lid stays open and the sump is aired before anyone goes in.
- Nobody enters alone, and nobody follows someone in. If something goes wrong, the person outside raises the alarm.
- Disinfectant used in measured amounts with the sump open, and rinsed out before refilling.
This is why sump cleaning costs more than a roof tank of the same size, and why we never send one person.

Why sumps collect more sludge than roof tanks
- It's the lowest point. Water from the supply line slows down in the sump and drops its silt; the overhead tank gets what the motor lifts from above the sludge.
- Borewell and tanker water carry more fine sediment and minerals than treated supply.
- Old lids and openings at ground level let in rainwater, dust and leaves, especially in the monsoon.
- Out of sight. Most families never open the sump, so it goes years without cleaning.
How often: about every 6 months on Delhi Jal Board supply, every 3 to 6 months on borewell, about every 3 months on tanker water. Water Tank Cleaning →
How we clean a sump
- Inspect and measure. Size, access, lid, inlet and the state of the water.
- Ventilate with the lid open before entry.
- Drain the sump with a pump.
- Remove the sludge from the floor by hand, into buckets passed up to the technician outside.
- Pressure-wash walls and floor.
- Hand-scrub corners, walls and the underside of the lid.
- Vacuum out the loosened dirt and water.
- Disinfect the inside surfaces, then rinse.
- Photos of the floor and walls before and after, on WhatsApp.
Time: at least 3 hours a sump with two technicians; large or very dirty sumps take longer. Full 9 steps:
What you'll see in the photos
- Before: the water level and colour, the sludge on the floor (often several centimetres deep in a sump that hasn't been cleaned), algae or film on the walls, and the condition of the lid
- After: bare walls and floor, the clean inlet, and the closed lid
- Anything we noticed: cracks, a broken lid, a leaking inlet, or roots coming through, so you can get them repaired
Keep the photos: they're useful for your family, your landlord or your RWA.
Signs, before, after, not included
Signs your sump needs cleaning
- Dirty or smelly water even after the roof tank was cleaned (the sump feeds it)
- Sediment in buckets, or the motor pulling up mud
- It's never been cleaned, or nobody knows when it was
Before we arrive
- Store water for 3 to 4 hours
- Switch off the motor
- Clear the area around the sump opening, including parked cars and stored items
- Make the lid accessible; tell us if it's sealed or tiled over
After the clean
- Let the sump refill, then switch the motor back on
- Clean the roof tank the same day if you can; otherwise the first fill carries the old sludge up, so book both together
- Keep the lid sealed against rain and dust
Not included
- Crack sealing, waterproofing or repairing the lid
- Plumbing, pumps, valves or the motor
- Water testing in a lab
- Septic tanks, sewer lines and drains (we clean drinking-water sumps only)
Sumps in villas, kothis and sector houses
Independent houses in Faridabad sectors, Gurugram's villa sectors and Delhi kothis usually have both a sump and an overhead tank, often on borewell supply in Gurugram and Faridabad. These sumps build up sludge faster and are often larger (5,000 to 15,000 litres). Book the sump and the roof tank together, so you don't refill a clean roof tank from a dirty sump; 365-plan members get ₹149 off the second tank. Overhead Tank Cleaning →
