Example, a three-tower society: six 5,000-litre terrace tanks (two per tower) and two 25,000-litre reservoir compartments: 6 × ₹1,499 + 2 × ₹4,499 = ₹8,994 + ₹8,998 = ₹17,992 including GST.

Society tanks in Noida: what to know
The authority's job ends at the society's reservoir. The Greater Noida Authority said so in September 2024: it supplies water up to the reservoir, and the builder or AOA runs distribution to the homes. The reservoir, pumps, terrace tanks and pipes inside the boundary, and keeping them clean, are the society's.
What fills those reservoirs varies. Noida's piped supply is itself a blend of about 260 MLD of Ganga water, around 100 MLD from Ranney wells and about 90 MLD from more than 40 tubewells, by figures reported in September 2025. Some newer societies have relied on tubewells for years: the Allahabad High Court ordered a piped supply for Jaypee Greens Wish Town in September 2025, and ATS Pristine in Sector 150 got its Gangajal connection only in July 2024. Ask what feeds each compartment. Clean about every 6 months on authority water alone, and every 3 to 6 months where tubewell or tanker water goes in.
Then, who's in charge. Under the UP Apartment Act, common areas pass from the promoter to the registered Apartment Owners' Association; until then the builder's maintenance agency usually runs things, and handovers can drag. In February 2026 the NCLAT ordered an agency to hand two Noida societies to their AOAs within 30 days. Whoever holds the pump-room keys should hold the tank records too.

What Greater Noida's authority now expects from societies
In April 2025, more than 200 residents of Ajnara Homes in Sector 16B, Greater Noida West, fell ill with vomiting and diarrhoea. The CMO's nodal officer said the overhead tank had probably last been cleaned the previous September and the groundwater tank wasn't properly covered; residents said they had repeatedly asked the agency to clean the tanks. GNIDA fined the society ₹25 lakh over tanks not properly cleaned, and two months later ₹5 lakh more for using drinking water for gardening and flushing, which under an NGT order must use STP-treated water.
In January 2026, after families in Delta 1 fell ill, GNIDA's additional CEO said builders and apartment associations must regularly clean reservoirs, test samples and submit reports. And in an earlier Greater Noida West case, the district magistrate's affidavit to the NGT blamed leftover bleaching powder. The lessons:
- Keep a schedule for every tank and compartment.
- Check covers and lids; an open cover undoes a clean.
- Disinfect, then rinse. Every AHC tank clean ends with a rinse before refilling.
We clean, disinfect and photograph. Testing is for an accredited lab, and the report to the authority comes from the society.

Builder to AOA handover: the tank file
When an AOA takes over from the maintenance agency, ask for the tank file with the keys: every tank and compartment with its size and the towers it feeds, the source at each inlet, when each was last cleaned and by whom, and the state of covers and vents.
No file? Our first clean becomes the baseline: dated before-and-after photos of every tank, notes on broken covers or missing mesh, the next due date per tank, and one GST invoice to the AOA. Wet basements matter too: at Supertech Ecovillage 2 in 2024, officials issued a ₹10,000 challan for stagnant water with larvae in the basement. Common-area fogging can sit on the same contract.
