Water in Shalimar Bagh

According to DJB's published timings, Wards 62N and 63N (Shalimar Bagh) get water from 5:30 to 8:30 am and from 5:30 to 8 pm, pumped from the Pitampura Primary UGR. The Haiderpur water treatment plant borders the colony, but for most homes the water still arrives in those two windows and sits in a tank for the hours between.

Supply has been a public issue here. During a Chief Minister's visit on 5 March 2025, residents raised a supply problem in AC Block, shortages in BW Block and "water scarcity and dirty water" in BC East Block, and the Water Board was told to act before summer. In May 2025 she inaugurated new sewer, gas and water pipelines in Shalimar Bagh.

  • On DJB water only, clean a rooftop tank about twice a year.
  • If you top up from a tanker in summer, clean it every three to four months, because tanker water leaves more silt.
  • After a dirty-water spell, wait until the tap runs clear, then clean. A clean tank removes the mud and film that settled during the bad days; it does nothing about a leak or a fault in the pipe, which only DJB can fix (complaints on 1916).

Shalimar Village and Haiderpur

The planned blocks are only part of Shalimar Bagh. Shalimar Village and Haiderpur are older settlements beside the planned blocks, and Haiderpur also gives its name to a post office in 110088. In November 2025, new water pipelines were opened for Shalimar Village, Govind Mohalla and Ambedkar Nagar, after what The Pioneer described as chronic water shortages.

A household that has been storing water in drums and tanks through a shortage should clean those tanks once the new supply is flowing steadily, so the first months of better water don't sit on old sediment. Older buildings in village lanes also tend to need rat and cockroach control together, done in one visit: rat control is ₹1,099 for a 1BHK and cockroach control ₹1,099 for a 1BHK, including GST.

For shops in the block markets

Shalimar Bagh's DDA markets are being renovated, and a multi-level parking facility is planned near them (The Pioneer, December 2025). For shopkeepers, works next door mean dust on stock and pests on the move. Three jobs help:
